The Henry Pittock, the founder of Portland's Oregonian newspaper, completed construction of this home in 1914. Today, it is a glimpse of the rich life in Portland at the turn of the century. Situated at 950 feet in elevation, hiking trails surrounds the mansion, and, on a clear day, you can see far to even Mt St Helen and Mt Hood. You can view the grounds on an hour-long tour for a small fee and see the three-story restored mansion, the ground, and the gatekeeper's lodge, all furnished with 17th and 18th century European and American antiques. The mansion can also be accessed by the five-mile Wildwood Trail.
